The dump bear is so hungry. People see her plodding,\u00a0
weirdly elegant, around the green dumpster. They see her\u00a0
on two legs banging a tuna can like a battle drum,
slapping flies away from winnowed chicken bones\u00a0
with weary paws. They see her crouching in the parking lot,\u00a0
naked and vulnerable, over half a cinnabon.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on with the dump bear.\u00a0
The dump bear gets nervous about the disintegration of the planet
in a way where it\u2019s like Girl, you can\u2019t do anything about that.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She insists on humiliating herself in public,\u00a0
and this makes everyone feel uneasy.\u00a0
Everyone is reminded of many unpleasant things\u00a0
watching the dump bear feast on garbage\u00a0
and listen\u2014the dump bear picks up on that.\u00a0
If the dump bear is making everybody else uncomfortable,\u00a0
there is a good chance she is making herself uncomfortable as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dump bear used to worry that maybe\u00a0
she isn\u2019t as self-aware as she thinks she is\u2014
but no, the dump bear understands\u00a0
that she is constituted through action,\u00a0
that her classification is a consequence of her own decisions,\u00a0
that she could stop anytime, walk back into the woods.\u00a0
But the dump bear is so hungry. No matter what, she will eat.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
