{"id":5043,"date":"2013-08-07T13:17:08","date_gmt":"2013-08-07T19:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jerseydevilpress.com\/?page_id=5043"},"modified":"2013-08-07T13:17:08","modified_gmt":"2013-08-07T19:17:08","slug":"trevor-tingle","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.jerseydevilpress.com\/?page_id=5043","title":{"rendered":"Trevor Tingle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Much Later, the Architect Reviews his Masterpiece<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The moon has no eyes.<br \/>\nThoth has been waning for days<br \/>\nand Horus, that shambling mass,<br \/>\nhas stolen the great scales.<\/p>\n<p>He huddles in our alley ways,<br \/>\nragged clothes stiff and stale<br \/>\nfrom the many deaths of unwashed skin.<br \/>\nHe brandishes his prize at walls<br \/>\nof mud, brick, and steel,<br \/>\nwelding it now as his weapon,<br \/>\nhis eye piece.<\/p>\n<p>Upon the walls smudges are weighed<br \/>\nas a thousand hands of emptiness against<br \/>\nthe forever smell: a tumult of offal and gratitude.<\/p>\n<p>From somewhere there is no light.<br \/>\nEach brick, each stone, each crevice is left<br \/>\nto its own notion of what its shadow might be.<\/p>\n<p>A creaking can be felt from the umbra.<br \/>\nSomething held so close as to be a touch.<br \/>\nThe axle is rusty and it sways in time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TREVOR TINGLE<\/strong> has tried and failed to sail around the world.
