Just a reminder, guys: There’s only one week left to pre-order your copy of the 2010 Jersey Devil Press Anthology. Which also means there’s only one week left to take advantage of the 2 For $25 Super Awesome Combo Deal! It is our personal belief that you should do this right now.

Should you disagree with us, or suffer from the affliction known as procrastination, that’s OK. We won’t judge you. At least not a lot. Because next Tuesday, July 27th, the anthology will go live on Amazon, as well as magically appear as a .pdf, an .epub and in the Kindle Store. And possibly Apple’s iBookstore, too, but they’re kind of draconian these days so who knows.

If you’d prefer to see our smiling faces when you buy the book then you’re in luck! Four days after the book release, there’s the book release picnic! Saturday, July 31st, from 1:00 p.m until question mark, in Brookdale Park, Bloomfield, NJ. We’ll have books on hand for sale, you can meet editors and other writers, you can point and laugh at the Jersey stereotypes that will undoubtedly be walking past. It’ll be a blast.

We’re temporarily closing submissions until August 1st.

Between the Anthology pre-orders, the picnic and our own lives, Monica and I are going to be more than a little swamped for the next few weeks. As such, we’re just not going to have the time to read through submissions the way we normally do. Rather than amass a backlog and make you wait weeks and weeks, we figured this was the more responsible way to do this. Plus it means we’ll be in a better mood when we do get to your story.

The handful of subs currently in our inbox should be rocked out by the end of tomorrow. Anything that comes in between now and August is just gonna sit there. While we’re not going to immediately reject it, we are gonna go in a little annoyed, so it’s probably in your best interests not to do that.

Thanks for your understanding in these hot, busy, hot, trying times. We look forward to being inundated with your best work on August 1st.

Man, two weeks without an update. It’s unconscionable. But, to be fair, we’ve been busy. And at least it gave you time to read Issue Ten, right?

What have we been so busy with? Why, the release of the 2010 Jersey Devil Press Anthology! And setting up the requisite launch picnic!

To celebrate the release of the 2010 JDP Anthology, we’ll be having a picnic in Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, NJ. You’re in charge of bringing your own snacks, but we’ll have plenty of copies of the anthology on hand. And probably a couple of snacks, too, despite ourselves. Date is Saturday, July 31st, from 1:00 p.m. until five or six or something. Consider it a chance to meet other authors and readers and get some much needed sun. And, let’s face it. You need some sun.
