Man, two weeks without an update. It’s unconscionable. But, to be fair, we’ve been busy. And at least it gave you time to read Issue Ten, right?
What have we been so busy with? Why, the release of the 2010 Jersey Devil Press Anthology! And setting up the requisite launch picnic!
To celebrate the release of the 2010 JDP Anthology, we’ll be having a picnic in Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, NJ. You’re in charge of bringing your own snacks, but we’ll have plenty of copies of the anthology on hand. And probably a couple of snacks, too, despite ourselves. Date is Saturday, July 31st, from 1:00 p.m. until five or six or something. Consider it a chance to meet other authors and readers and get some much needed sun. And, let’s face it. You need some sun.
E-mail tickets@jerseydevilpress.com for more information on the exact location within the park. No, tickets are not actually required, but we don’t get to use that address nearly enough.
In the meantime, you’ve only got until July 27th to order the 2010 Anthology and any other JDP book for just $25! That includes Exponential Apocalypse, Perhaps., or another copy of the anthology. That’s right, two copies of the 2010 Jersey Devil Press Anthology for just $25! And all orders of $25 or more, of anything, will ship with a free set of magnets! Use them to stick stuff to metal!

So the show is over, the dust has settled, and the leftover pizza has finally been eaten. We rocked out our readings and the plays went over pretty damn well. It was quite the experience. It’s really a shame that some of you missed it. We hope you all feel terrible.

“We do. We do feel terrible. You took pictures, right?”
Of course we did. Make your way over to our photo gallery and take a peek at the super-talented, photogenic actors… and Eirik and Steve. Also, there are music stands.
“God, that looks awesome. I bet I missed all the cool merchandise you guys were selling, too. I suck.”

Aw, don’t be so hard on yourself. There’s still some left! Grab your wallet and head to our store to order Perhaps., Exponential Apocalypse, or the Genghis Khan Versus a Velociraptor magnet set. That’s right, magnets! Bright, colorful and showcasing some of the choicer quotes from the evening. Plus they stick to metal! Magic!
“Fuck yeah. But I don’t think I’m going to get the quotes without knowing the plays…”
Oh my goodness, we can fix that too! Check out the scripts for all four plays: Too Easy, Urinal Cakes, Better Than Flowers, and Genghis Khan Versus a Velociraptor. Now you can act them out in your living room with your friends! Or put on a show with the neighbor kids! There’s nothing funnier than six-year-olds cussing and talking about sex! OK, maybe don’t use six-year-olds.
In any event, grab a beer, order a pizza, and start clicking on the links above. It’ll (sort of) be just like being there!

Just wanted to give a quick, public thanks to Jeanne Haggerty for her extremely generous donation to Genghis Khan Versus a Velociraptor. As promised, she sat front and center for the performance, and a potentially illegible short story (pictured to the left, transcripted beneath the jump) is on its way to her. Thanks again, Jeanne!
Also wanted to mention that Stephen Schwegler is giving away a copy of his book Perhaps. to one lucky reader. You can tell this is all him because, nice guy that he is, he’s not even making you jump through hoops for it. You can check out the details here.
And while we’re talking about contests, go check out Bananafish’s first Short Story Competition. The winner gets money AND a t-shirt.
OK, now, time to rock out the May issue. Make sure you catch up on April’s while you still can!
Well, OK, yeah, you can catch up on all the issues all the time, but let’s at least pretend there’s some urgency here.
